If your travels take you to New York this summer then DWS recommends you pay a special visit to the METROPOLITAN MUSEUM. The clever people in their Costume Department are planning to follow last year's blockbuster success with SAVAGE BEAUTY: an exhibit on the work on the great ALEXANDER MCQUEEN with another potentially fabulous show. This one is 'ELSA SCHIAPARELLI AND MUCCIA PRADA : IMPOSSIBLE CONVERSATIONS. If you know the work of both of these talented creators, you will appreciate that this linking together makes great sense. They may have been decades apart but these two Italian geniuses were unquestionably sisters in soul.
Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton, the two Curators have announced that the exhibit will consist of 80 designs from Ms Schiaparelli and Ms Prada but have also included seven short films made by BAZ LUHRMANN of 'interviews' between Ms Prada and a yung actress playing Ms Schiaparelli to add a whimsical dimension to this retrospective.
The Exhibit Opens May 10 and runs through to August 19th. There is a however a glamorous Gala on the May 7th chaired by ANNA WINTOUR, CAREY MULLIGAN and MS PRADA, so if you know any of them personally, go beg for a ticket. And whilst you are at it, get one for us too.
