L'WREN SCOTT debuts @ DWS

We are sure that everyone will be queuing at the next WOMENSWEAR DESIGNER WAREHOUSE SALE when L’ WREN SCOTT will be making her debut.

L’ WREN SCOTT started out in the fashion world as a model (at 6’3”) and spotted by Bruce Webber at the age of 18 and soon was off to Paris to work with fashion legends THIERRY MUGLER and CHANEL. Then returning to California in the early 90’s as a stylist for the likes of renowned photographers Herb Ritts and Helmut Newton. This close association with style over the years came to fruition when L’WREN launched her own fashion label in 2006. This first collection was an array of “Little Black Dresses” and was an instant success, especially her signature ‘Headmistress’ dress. So much so Madonna wore it with her boyfriend of the time, Jesus Luz, in a photo shoot for W magazine. She has also been in a long term relationship with Mick Jagger. A true jet setter.

She is a designer of exquisite clothes and accessories which reflect her own impeccable personal style. Sleek and chic her designs make women look and feel fabulous. The collections are all designed in England and made in Italy, sold world wide and worn by many stars on the International red carpets. And we are thrilled to be the First and Only Sale  selling this unique Collection and all at 70% OFF the regular retail prices.

RAISON D'ETRE has arrived...

At D.W.S. we literally scour the world looking for wonderful new fashion discoveries to bring to you, and its really exciting when we fall upon a Label that we know you will really love. This one is from Italy and has been quietly building up a reputation as an essential 'must have' accessory and its called RAISON D'ETRE.
We love the elegant simplicity of the very natural look that designer SABINE has created with these understated and very beautiful bags. The superb craftsmanship is traditional Italian, but the look is very contemporary.
We've snapped up the chance to be the ONLY Sale that has this great line, and not only will you be very impressed with the bags, you will be bowled over with the prices they will be marked.

P.S.  We really are stepping up the expansion on our whole ACCESSORY DEPARTMENT, so make sure you 'Like' our FACEBOOK Page as we are just about to announce even more goodies that will make their D.W.S. debut this September.

DANIEL BLAKE IS BACK

D.W.S was established 25 years ago by our M.D., who was then a Menswear Designer, primarily to support and work with the crème of the crop of British Fashion Designers.  Over the years as we have expanded to become this Country’s Leading Designer Sale we have incorporated the very best International Designers so we are now carry a veritable ‘who’s who’ in fashion.  However our first love  will always be talented British designers, and there are  a whole world of them out there that we plan to bring to you.

A few years back we ‘discovered’ DANIEL BLAKE an ex graduate from Kingston University who cut his (fashion) teeth working for SARA STURGEON (which we carried big time for years) and MAX MARA before he broke out on his own.  By the time we came across him he was already a rising star in Stores like LIBERTY and so when we had one his first collections at D.W.S. we literally sold out ever single piece.

Daniel describes his clothing as “timeless, investment pieces”, and the type of women who currently wear his clothes, as ranging from urban high flyers to contemporary artisans.  He explains, “The cut, quality and workmanship of my pieces means that women of a certain 'style' would be attracted to wearing the collection.'' We agree with him that these are 'investment pieces' that we believe a diversity of women would want for themselves.

We are overjoyed to have him back with us at this September Womenswear Sale …. Be warned however, it is a Sample Collection of One-Off Original Pieces and it will sell out fast. And think of this too, they are All Made in Britain!

CHRISTOPHER FISCHER

Christopher Fischer

D.W.S. shares the same birthday as CHRISTOPHER FISCHER CASHMERE, which started 25 years ago in Hawick, Scotland the birthplace of the Scottish cashmere industry.  Many of our oldest customers who were shopping with us way back then will fondly remember how fabulous CHRISTOPHER FISCHER sweaters were.  Then one day our MD introduced Mr. Fischer to his future wife, who scooped him up and his whole knitwear line to the USA.  He became a really big name in a much bigger pond and now his sweaters can be found in some of the finest stores across America, so we are absolutely thrilled to have him back at D.W.S. after all these years.  Both he, and his knitwear, are a sheer joy

Be warned it's a Sample Collection: so the good news is that they are truly one-off originals, which you may never see in the shops …. the sad news is that they will all be snapped up fast, so get there early

This is some of what you can expect to find exclusively at DWS ‘s September Sale.

PLEASE CALL THE US OLYMPIC SWIM TEAM .... MAYBE

OK, so I know we are all a tad over all the endless variations of 'CALL ME MAYBE' (we published the video by the Abercrombie + Fitch boys the other week) but here's one you must see.  As performed by the US OLYMPIC SWIM TEAM  that is too good to miss, especially as it includes MICHAEL PHELPS and RYAN LOTCHE, and the others are not exactly unattractive too.

WINNERS & LOSERS

Whilst we all at TEAM D.W.S will be patriotically routing for all the British Sportsmen and women to do well in the OLYMPIC GAMES , we must confess when it comes to matters sartorial (which we do know a more than a little about) we are so not keen on our Team Uniform that STELLA McCARTNEY designed.

It's made us reflect slightly on some of the OLYMPIC's finest fashion moments in the past, and some of the real losers.  Here's a few of our favorites:-

Miss Charlotte Cooper the first ever Women Medalist in 1900 nattily attired like a real  well-bred Englishwoman.

And we couldn't  miss out the Norwegian Team in 2010 who had us riveted to Curling that year, and those pants of theirs made by a company called LOUDMOUTH GOLF.  The Team's pants have their own Facebook page that has been 'liked' by almost 600,000 people! http://www.facebook.com/NOCTP.

We loved these matching bathing suits the AUSTRALIAN TEAM wore in 1972.  Evidently hers is called a 'tankini' and his were called 'far too short'.

In 1988 West German figure skater KATERINA WITT horrified Olympic Officials by baring so much skin and they introduced new rules to ensure that in future costumes were more modest and 'ladylike' . They  named it the Katerina Rule and it was enforced until 2004.  Personally we were much more 'offended' by what she wore, not now little there was of it!

So for 2012 here's one Team's Uniform we applaud.  If you recognize the designer standing in front, then you will know that this is the Italian Team .  (Yep, its Signor Armani).

And here's one we dislike even more than Ms McCartney's.  Is the 2012 outfits for the Spanish Team and you can see from this photograph how very excited they are to be wearing them.

And finally, we know that the Mayor was not elected for his keen sense of fashion BUT wearing one of the dreadful puce outfits of the Olympic Ambassadors?   Really Boris!  It makes us really worry what he will actually wear to the Games itself.
