ARNOLD'S ARRIVED

At D.W.S. we love to search the world to find new labels  .... and established labels that are new to you ... and for this week we landed in California, well Hollywood to precise.... and we found ARNOLD ZIMBERG and his wonderful colorful shirts.  Mr Zimberg has been designing with great success for many years and his collections are not stocked in the best US Stores such NIEMAN MARCUS & CHARLES SPEGIEL etc but also are worn by the cast of such TV shows like MELROSE PLACE.

Now you don't have to fly to the USA or be a Star to wear ARNOLD ZIMBERG as we have them here, and naturally all at D.W.S. prices so you can pick one up for as little as £69!   The best thing about Mr Zimberg's designs is that he is not afraid of using really sunny bright colours, and that's one thing we need with this dreary English Summer.

OUR RAINBOW QUEEN

At D.W.S. we dont just believe that ever one should just look good BUT that they should feel good too.  And to that we end we are  avid supporters of EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL.  Like the British Government and President OBama we firmly believe that no-one should be treated as a second class person because of their sexual orientation or gender, and we welcome all these latest moves to finally correct this situation by legalizing same-sex marriage.

We also believe that most right-thinking people feel the same way, especially the ones who have a long history of supporting human rights and advocating change.  Some voice it voraciously (Thank God) whilst others are more subtle, but equally effective, in their support.   We think HM the Queen maybe of the latter group as our fashion experts have noticed how she has recently chosen to very subtly wear the Gay Rainbow Flag in her recent outfits.   Check this out.

We've said it before, and we'll say it again many times, THANK YOU MA'AM

SHOPPING WITHOUT CHOUPETTE

It's still a couple more days to wait until our fab SUMMER WOMENSWEAR SALE and if that is not enough to test your patience, what about this frigging weather eh?

So here's a wee something to put a  file on your face about one of the MADDEST people in the Fashion Business : Mr KARL LAGERFELD. Yes we know he's a genius BUT he's been out in that sun (somewhere)  waaaaay too long.   If you ever wondered why all the clothes he sells are expensive, its became he has to keep CHOUPETTE happy.  She lives better than any of us.  She has two personal maids who also keep a detailed diary of her every move. "We do keep a diary," Lagerfeld told WWD  "When I am not there, the maids take down, in little books, everything she did, from what she ate, to how she behaved, if she was tired, and if she wasn't sleeping. In the nine months, we already have almost 600 pages."   Me thinks there is a yet another Coffee Book on the way here.

By the way .... CHOUPETTE  is a cat even you hadn't worked that out already.

I'm grateful to OMG blog for bringing this snippet to our attention, and want to dedicate the story to our Jimmy who, when I think about it, was just as spoilt as this, except his folks refused to buy him an iPad.

We've been a part of the Fashion Industry a very long time (!) and D.W.S. itself is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year, and even though recognized as part of the Establishment now, there is nothing we love better than discovering and working with the new Young Turks. And if you have been shopping with us for a long time, you will know only too well that we have introduced more hot labels and wonderful new talent than any other Sale.

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING OF?

Just one week away until the next DWS WOMENSWEAR SALE ... and we can hardly wait to unload all the trucks to see exactly what goodies our (180+) DESIGNERS are sending in this time.   We have a very good idea at this stage after all our recent conversations with them, and although  we cannot guarantee exactly 100% what we are getting, we can at least be more than sure in what we definitely won't be offering you.  On this windswept day we found this totally Over the Top Fashion Show that put a very big smile on our faces, and we wanted to share this with you.  We have sat through more than a few  'What the Hell Were They Thinking Of?' Runway extravaganzas  in our time, but this one really takes the biscuit.  And the noodles too.  Enjoy.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

We are really not quite sure what HER MAJESTY must have thought about the ever-stylish and fabulous GRACE JONES still being a Slave to The Rythmn at the Diamond Jubilee Concert a few days after her 64th Birthday, so we are ending this week's TRIBUTE with another fabulous fashion Icon : the superbly talented JESSYE NORMAN when she belted out the National Anthem to the Queen a few years back at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.  It never fails to give us a lump in the back of our throats (and just look at that frock that La Norman wears!)

Like every true-blooded british man and woman we love our Queen, and we are so proud of her too. At DWS we  join the whole world in congratulating her on her Diamond Jubilee, and hope she will continue to reign over us for many more years to come.
