FLAMING RHIANNA

So RHIANNA was spotted traveling on London's Tube.  Looks like Finsbury Park Tube Station to us.  Could she in fact be heading for DWS DESIGNER WAREHOUSE SALE?  She is wearing a MARGIELA T SHIRT which she could have bought from us and saved enough money to buy a few years worth of Tube travel.  Anyway she's too late now, the next Womenswear Sale is not until 15th June.  This weekend is the mens turn with the MENSWEAR DESIGNER WAREHOUSE SALE.  We actually do have MARGIELA clothes on sale there (although not this girly t-shirt).  Maybe she's got a boyfriend she like to come back to buy for?

FIT FOR ROYALTY

We thought we were doing well at DWS celebrating 25 years in business but AQUASCUTUM have managed to chalk up  a staggering 161 years.  To be fair, founder John Emery did take another 50 years before he set up shop in London's Regent Street, and it still remains they Flagship Store to this day.

They have held six Royal Warrants to date which will gives you a fair idea that this high-end classic tailor only sold their clothing to the very finest people.

WALKING IN HER SHOES

We wouldn't usually encourage MALE College Under-Graduates to buy up all the HIGH HEEL SHOES they  can at this weekend's WOMENSWEAR DESIGNER WAREHOUSE SALES BUT if it's for a good cause like these US Students then we are all for it.  A group of fraternity brothers at Western Kentucky University, this week marked a first. The guys strutted their stuff for a mile across campus wearing red heels as part of the 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' campaign to raise awareness of violence against women.

WE APPLAUD THEIR WONDERFUL EFFORTS IN SUPPORTING A REALLY IMPORTANT CAUSE.   

Keep on strutting boys ... but maybe change back into some pumps now eh?

Another new hot fashion label from France makes its UK debut and what better place to choose than at DWS.  This weekend we have the DAUPHINE collection EXCLUSIVELY and we just love it and we know you will  too.

BITTE IS SO PRETTY

As they are one of our favorites from the wee coterie of hot DANISH DESIGNERS that we carry at DWS, we are thrilled now that BITTE KAI RAND  have taken all the photographs they need, we now have their SPRING/SUMMER 2012 SAMPLE COLLECTION on Sale this very weekend .... and Spring hasn't even started yet.

BITTE KAI RAND started in 1981 and with its rich history has become one of their countries best known and loved labels.  They actually work out of their Studio in the Old Harbour 'Skudehamner' near to the centre of Copenhagen so they didnt have to travel far to get this great shots.

And you will not have to travel far to get your hands on the real thing BUT be quick as they are all ONE-OFF's and they are priced to sell out fast.

CONGRATULATIONS JOHNNY

If you are a regular customer at DWS you will know that you can often spot a Celebrity or two amongst the racks : we won't mention names as we never sell and tell.  But one who's never been (yet) is the inimitable Johnny Depp who was a surprise choice, if not an inspired one as the first male recipient of the FASHION ICON award, given  by the, prestigious COUNCIL OF FASHION DESiGNERS.  They cite him “for his personal and eclectic sense of style,”  which we total agree with. So congratulations Johnny as we think you are   certainly one of the most deserving recipients of the award in years.

Things get hectic as Preston continues to struggle with his assistant during a pre-casting for Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week. Due to a scheduling mishap, models flood the VFILES office testing the mental fortitude of everyone involved.

HAIR HATS

We are grateful to our friends at http://dirty-mag.com for this wonderful piece that caught our eye this week.  We love DOGS almost as much as we love FASHION so we are off to our hair stylist to see which one will suit us.

Art director, video director and artist, Nagi Noda, produced this series of exquisitely executed ‘hair hats’ before her untimely death in 2008. Nagi Noda was active not only in the realms of Japanese advertising and graphic design, but also in fashion and art, the scope of her creativity reaching way beyond Japan’s shores.

LOUIS V. & MARC J.

Our friends in Paris are enthusing over the new major exhibition on LOUIS VUITTON  and MARC JACOBS at the LES ARTS DECROTIFS wing at THE LOUVRE that had a fab Opening Night Party on Wednesday.  The Exhibition on two floors covers both the work of LOUIS VUITTON (mostly trunks) and the work of MARC JACOBS FOR LOUIS VUITTON.

The idea is to contrast the work of the two men as it relats to the great cultural shifts of their times.  And on the MARC JACOB floor their are examples on display of the collaborations he did with STEPHEN SPOUSE, TAKASHI MURAKAMI  and RICHARD PRINCE.

Tout society were there (except us) and Mr Jacobs was in the pink. Literally.
