BE A COPY-KATE

You too can be a Copy-Kate at the next WOMENSWEAR DESIGNER WAREHOUSE SALE. Cos’ guess who was seen snapping up a bargain at an ANONYMOUS sale recently? None other than Kate Middleton grabbing herself a cardigan. So if you want that Duchess-esque look at affordable prices DWS is the place to be from the 23rd March for three days.

Make sure you are there when we will be showcasing the label ANONYMOUS which was internationally launched in 1998 by Lindy Ross and Serena Bute. Their signature lace-trimmed twin-set quickly became the must have item for every fashion conscious woman, attracting high profile customers worldwide, from Madonna in her “American Pie” video to Renee Zellweger in “Bridget Jones”.

MARILYN

There is no DWS Sale on this weekend so we we know where we are heading out to instead.

International star Marilyn Monroe fascinated the public in her hey day and has continued to do so since her untimely death. With beauty, style and a certain mystery Marilyn was the ultimate Hollywood icon. This March the Getty Images Gallery will be presenting their exhibition Marilyn, which will showcase a collection of imagery and memorabilia to commemorate 50 years since her death. It will feature a number of dresses and costumes worn by the star which have been provided by David Gainsborough Roberts - the owner of the largest collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia in the world. There will also be a display of photographs and video which enable a glimpse into the life of Marilyn from the beginning of her career right up to the prime of her stardom.

ANOTHER NEW THOROUGHBRED

Premiering at the next WOMENSWEAR DESIGNER WAREHOUSE SALE on Friday 23rd March is the ever so easy to wear collection from GOLD HAWK all at fantastically reduced prices. GOLD HAWK, named after an exquisite black horse, was founded in 2003 by Montreal-born designer Michele Dahan. She allows her worldly travels and everyday inspirations to spill over into her work, resulting in exquisite silk camisoles, dresses, cashmere sweaters, and skirts in gorgeous fabrics and colours adding a final touch of lace or an extraordinary detail. This label has become an international sensation with devoted fans such as Halle Berry, Cindy Crawford, Jessica Alba, and Paris Hilton to name but a few. We are sure that you will love it too.

LYING YOUR FACE OFF

BEFORE .......
Poor Anwar al-Balkimy  got fired from his job on Monday as a Member of the Egptian Parliament just because he had a nose job cos he wanted to improve his looks.  Admittedly he had fabricated a whole story about getting beaten up by masked gunmen which resulted in a stream of VIP visitors to his hospital bedside before the truth leaked out.  Its not as though he is the first vain politician (God forbid!), but  when you are part of the Muslem Brotherhood you are meant to stick with what ever large hooter your maker handed out to you.

AND AFTER  .........
At DWS we are all still exactly as nature made us  BUT we will confess the subject is never far from our minds.  The question is, would we (or you) own up to getting some body work done? Or just try to wing it?

DIANE VREELAND : THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL

Our MD is something of a film buff and he got a sneak preview of a wonderful new documentary on an awe-inspiring women : the late and very great DIANE VREELAND.  Yes there were fashion magazine giants way before Anna Wintour,  and the finest of these was the inimitable Ms Vreeland who edited first HARPERS BAZAAR and then VOGUE in the glorious  days of couture. She was the woman who discovered Lauren Bacall, advised Jackie Kennedy, celebrated Twiggy.  The film got together a who's-who of designers (Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, Manolo Blahnik), models (Veruschka, Polly Tree, China Machado) and photographers (David Bailey, Richard Avedon, Lillian Bassman) who enthusiastically testify to Vreeland's perfectionism and her finite sense of style.

A great tribute to a true first lady of fashion.  Watch this space cos we will be the first to tell you when it finally gets released.

I LOVE MY MOTHER

We want people to come back into DWS and say ‘I love my MOTHER so much’

We are paraphrasing denim design guru Tim Kaeding (ex ‘7 for All Mankind’) who with partner Lela Tillman (ex ‘Citizens of Humanity’) launched a new denim collection in 2011 called ‘MOTHER’ which was an instant success with international fashion magazines & customers alike. And naturally we will have it first at DWS in our pre-Easter Womenswear Sale. So if you want the latest fab skinny jeans, you will love ‘MOTHER’ ( and she will be proud of you saving so much money too!)
